Louise Kirkbride
Member of Caltech Board of Trustees; Founder of Answer Systems, Inc.

Louise Kirkbride is a gubernatorial appointee to the California Board of Accountancy and to the Contractors State License Board. She was the founder and CEO of Broad Daylight, which developed customer-service software for the Fortune 1000. Previously, Kirkbride founded Answer Systems, which introduced computer-aided problem resolution to customer-service organizations around the world. Answer Systems was purchased in 1995 by Platinum Technology, now part of Computer Associates. A pioneer in the high-tech customer-service market, Kirkbride secured the first patent for problem-resolution technology and launched the first Internet-based customer-service product.

In 2001, Kirkbride was honored as one of the "Top 25 Women on the Web" for her efforts to advance technology and contribute to the online community. She was also named a "Service 25" visionary by Service News magazine in recognition of her contributions to the customer-service industry.

Hers was the first class of freshman women to enter Caltech, from which she received her BS and MS degrees in electrical engineering. She was a member of Dabney House.
